Winnipeg Robert Burns Club

The Club holds six luncheon meetings a year; hosts an annual Burns Supper in January, and holds an annual memorial service in July.

The club meets for lunch, normally, on the third Saturday of October, November, December, February, March and April. During these meetings we share the poetry and music of Robert Burns, and other Scottish cultural activities. These meetings are open to both members and non members.

Our Luncheon meetings will be held for the 2011-12 year at the Holiday Inn Winnipeg South on Pembina Hwy comencing on October 15, 2011

The first Burns Supper held under the auspices of the Winnipeg Burns Club was held on Saturday, January 25th, 1908 at Manitoba Hall.

In more recent years the Burns Supper has been held, always on January 25th, unless that day fell on a Sunday, at the Hotel Fort Garry, The Marlborough, the St Regis Hotel, CanadInns Polo Park and the Assiniboine Gordon Inn on the Park.

The 104th Annual Burns Supper was held on Tuesday, January 25th, 2011 at the Marlborough Hotel.

The Memorial Service is held annually, at the Robert Burns Statue, on the Kennedy Street side of the grounds of the Manitoba Legislative Building, on the Sunday afternoon closest to July 21st, the anniversary of the bard's death in 1796.

There is always a reading or two from Burns, usually our piper will play, and in latter years members of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society have joined us in celebration of the life of Scottish National Poet.

The 2011 Memorial Service was be held Sunday July 24th at 2:00p.m.
